Thompson Rivers University, located in Kamloops, is the fourth largest provincial university in British Columbia with 9,500 students on campus and several thousand more who study through distance education. It is also the most comprehensive university in Canada, offering programs that range from upgrading of high school requirements and two-year professional career programs to undergraduate and graduate university degrees.
Founded in 1970 as a two-year institution, TRU is known for its flexibility in connecting two-year diplomas to degrees, and for providing students with a personal and practical educational experience. From smaller classes on a modern campus that's close to all city amenities, to extensive real-world opportunities through undergraduate research, international exchanges through Study Abroad and work experience through Co-op Education, TRU is a different kind of university.
